PB Wolf’s first mixer

October 23, 2008

I took this in SF at his old studio, The Dump.  Radio Shack mixers were the mixer of choice for a lot of early to mid eighties DJ’s for the simple reason being that they were cheap and where else would you go to find a mixer?  Guitar center certainly didn’t have them, neither did any electronics shop such as The Good Guys, Best Buy (I don’t even think they existed) or online.  There wasn’t online then either.  Notice the cue switch, it is similar to the on/off switch you’d find on the underside of a remote controlled toy car.  Try transforming with that!  Well he did, and did it well too.
